Reading Public Library announced on Monday, Oct. 28, that Craig Perrotty has been named as the Campaign Chair of the institution’s 2024 Annual Appeal.
Craig has been a dedicated member of the Reading Public Library Board since 2013, but his commitment to the community goes far beyond his role at the library. He also serves on the boards of the United Way of Berks County and the RACC Foundation, where he plays an active role on RACC’s nominating and golf committees.
When asked why he stepped up as the chair for this year’s Annual Appeal, Perrotty said: “The library is one of the most vital institutions a city can have. It provides free access to information, community, and resources for people of all walks of life. We are privileged to have such a wonderful library in our city, and that’s why we need to preserve it at all costs.”
The goal for the 2024 campaign is $55,000. Among other things, income from the library’s Annual Appeal will support S.T.E.M. programming for young patrons, digital literacy, and Telehealth sessions for seniors, and the expansion of the institution’s digital collection, which currently accounts for 1/3 of all materials checked out at the library despite costing 5x more than a physical book.
The library’s Director of Advancement and Communications, Carolyn Shultz Spano, remarks: “Craig’s dedication to the library has already been so transformative in providing resources for our community. He understands that every private dollar donated to our library counts now more than ever, and for that, we are so grateful to have his support during this critical campaign.”
