Computer Classes at Main Library
All classes will be held in Main Library’s computer lab as noted, lasting approximately 60 minutes. They can be extended up to 90 minutes as each class may require more time.
Classes meet at 2:00 p.m. and are given in English and Spanish simultaneously.

- January 8 – Resume Workshop
Start building your resume skills with our Power Library Resume Builder Class. Guided instruction will take you through an easy fill-in-the-blank process which allows you to add your information (contact information, experience, education, etc.) and leads to a finished resume in PDF format that you can save,email, and print. The class will also feature other job resources from Power Library. Basic Computer Skills and an accessible email address required. - January 22 – Career Search
Start building your job seeking skills with the Reading Public Library and Northstar Digital Literacy Classes. Northstar’s practice lessons will help you gain confidence and master skills. This class provides guided instruction and features other Career Search resources available from the Reading Public Library. - February 5 – Internet 1 – Basic Computer Skills
Start building your digital literacy skills with the Reading Public Library and Northstar Digital Literacy. Northstar’s practice lessons will help you gain confidence and master skills. This class will feature guided instruction for Basic Internet Skills. Afterwards, you can take an assessment to test your knowledge and demonstrate your abilities and certification will be provided for those who pass the proctored assessment. - February 19 – Gmail and Google Tools
Start building your digital literacy skills with the Reading Public Library and Northstar Digital Literacy. Northstar’s practice lessons will help you gain confidence and master skills. This class will feature guided instruction for Gmail and other Google Tools. Afterwards, you can take an assessment to test your knowledge and demonstrate your abilities and certification will be provided for those who pass the proctored assessment. Internet 1 Class required. Users must bring a cell phone that can receive text messages. - March 5 – Microsoft Word

- Mouse & Keyboarding Basics – Learn to use and click a mouse; scrolling; online forms; and major keyboard controls
- Internet Searching – Introduction to the internet; use a web browser; clicking on hyperlinks, and basic Google searching
- Printing – How to print webpages
- Search Engine Use – Learn search methods, tips & tricks
- Library Catalog Search – Using the library catalog, finding items, placing holds
- Other Search Options – Alternate search tools, introduction to databases
