Support Summer Learning at the Library

RPL’s annual summer learning program, Summer@RPL, begins at Reading Public Library on June 14. This year’s theme is “Color Our World”, illustrating how the library brings vibrancy to our lives and community. The program will consist of eight weeks of exciting performances, weekly STEAM activities, crafts, cooking classes, and much more. These programs are not just about fun but also about meeting our community’s needs. Reading Public Library will serve over 5,000 youth throughout the summer, providing them with exciting programs, fun field trips, and valuable learning experiences.

In addition to programming, we offer a summer reading book challenge to combat reading loss. We encourage our youth to continue reading over the summer because research indicates that students who read over the summer are less likely to experience a decline in their academic skills. Summer reading programs prevent the “summer slide” in reading achievement.

Emily McNulty, Assistant Director at RPL, states, “Summer@RPL offers a variety of fun learning experiences, encourages recreational reading, and introduces kids, teens, and families to the many enriching resources that the library has to offer.”

Thanks to the generosity of friends like you, all these activities are free! Your support is crucial in realizing our vision of helping children and adults continue their educational journey. We couldn’t do it without you!
