The Rules

Who is eligible? Anyone who is age 18 or over or a high school graduate or equivalent and a member of the Reading Public Library/Berks County Public Library System in good standing may participate. Library staff members are not eligible for prizes.
How does the program work? For every book a participant reads, s/he fills out an entry form indicating the book title and any comments, and the patron’s name, address, email address, telephone number, and library card number. There is no limit to the number of entries per week; more entries mean a better chance of winning the weekly prize. One entry per title. All entries become the property of Reading Public Library and will not be returned. In addition, parts or all of the entries may be used in publicity releases, etc.
What can I read? Any book, fiction or nonfiction, in print, audio, or electronic format, may be entered into the contest. We ask that participants enter books that are appropriate to their reading level. Magazine or newspaper articles will not be accepted.
Where are the forms found? The forms are found at the Reading Public Library, its branches, and with the senior outreach coordinator. Entries may also be submitted online at
What are the incentives for participating? A raffle for prizes will be held each week for ten weeks.
Why an adult summer reading program? The goal of the program is to encourage adults to relax with a good book during the summer months and to encourage library use by people of all ages. Kids aren’t the only ones who can have fun this summer!
When is the program? The program begins Monday, June 10, and ends Saturday, August 17, 2019.
